Set up Drumkit in Front
Last updated: October 23, 2026
In Front, Drumkit is a plugin in the right-hand sidebar. Your company connects Front to Drumkit once. After that, each rep opens the plugin and signs in with one click. Most teams have their Front admin add one company-wide Drumkit rule that covers shared and personal inboxes. If yours doesn't, each rep can add a rule for their own inbox.
How Front setup differs from Outlook and Gmail
- Your company connects Front, not each rep. Drumkit reads the shared inboxes your Front admin and Drumkit support connected for your company. There's no inbox to link for each person.
- You sign in with your Front account. No Microsoft or Google sign-in, and no Drumkit password. If your team uses features that send email for you, such as scheduled carrier check-ins, your Drumkit admin may also ask you to sign up at app.drumkit.ai/signup with your Microsoft or Google work account.
- Inboxes are connected with a Front rule. The simplest setup is one company-wide rule that your Front admin adds with Drumkit support. It covers every shared and personal inbox. Without it, Drumkit doesn't read a personal inbox until that rep adds the rule below.
1. Open Drumkit and sign in
- In Front, open any conversation.
- In the right-hand sidebar, click the Drumkit plugin icon. Don't see it? Ask your Front admin to add the Drumkit app for your team.
- Click Sign in to Drumkit. Drumkit signs you in with your Front account. If you're new, this sets up your Drumkit account too.
Drumkit is built for a wide sidebar. If you see Drumkit has been designed for wider sidebars., drag the left edge of the sidebar to make it wider.
2. Add the forwarding rule for your personal inbox
Skip this if your company already has the company-wide Drumkit rule, or if you only work from shared inboxes. Ask your Front admin if you're not sure.
First, get the Drumkit webhook address from your Front admin or Drumkit support. You'll paste it into the rule.
- In Front, open Settings from your avatar and choose Rules.
- Click Create rule.
- Name it so it's easy to find, for example Drumkit forwarding - personal inbox - rep@northwindfreight.com.
- Under When, tick all of these:
- Inbound message is received
- Inbound message is received (new conversation)
- New comment is added
- Outbound message is sent (new conversation)
- Outbound reply is sent (existing conversation)
- Under If, choose your personal inbox.
- Under Then, choose Send to Webhook and paste the Drumkit webhook address.
- Save the rule.
Don't see Send to Webhook? Install the Webhooks app from Front's app store, then come back to the rule.
Before you finish, check that:
- the rule is turned on and saved,
- it sits near the top of your rule list, ideally first,
- no rule above it has Stop processing other rules ticked. That setting quietly stops the Drumkit rule from running.
You're set. Kit reads new email in your personal inbox from now on. Older email isn't read, so forward anything you need to yourself.
Working in Front
- Select one conversation at a time. With several selected, Drumkit asks you to pick one.
- Replies open in Front. When you draft a quote reply, it opens in your Front composer. Review it and send from Front. See Send or draft your reply.
- Bidding portals and TMS pages need Chrome. The Front plugin works on emails. To use Drumkit on a portal or a TMS load page, install the Chrome extension too.
FAQs
Drumkit says "No conversation selected."
Click a conversation in Front. Drumkit works on the conversation you have open.
Kit doesn't find anything in my personal inbox.
Check the forwarding rule: turned on, near the top, the right inbox under If, and no Stop processing other rules above it. Emails that arrived before the rule was saved aren't read.
Kit doesn't find anything in a shared inbox.
That inbox may not be connected to Drumkit. Ask your Drumkit admin or email support@drumkit.ai with the inbox name.
Can I use the same Drumkit features as in Outlook?
Yes. It's the same sidebar, with the same tabs your team has turned on. Drumkit can't send email through Front, so replies open as drafts in your Front composer for you to send.
