What does 'utilization rate' mean in Drumkit Metrics?
Last updated: March 5, 2026
Utilization rate in Drumkit Metrics refers to how efficiently your available capacity or carrier resources are being used.
For carriers:
Carrier utilization rate measures what percentage of a carrier's available capacity is being used for your loads. A high utilization rate means the carrier is consistently hauling for you; a low rate may indicate capacity is being left on the table.
For internal operations:
Utilization can also refer to how much of your team's or your automation workflows' capacity is being actively used versus sitting idle.
How it's calculated:
Utilization = (Actual loads moved / Available capacity) x 100
Why it matters:
High carrier utilization generally means better rates and stronger relationships. Low utilization on preferred carriers may indicate a need to offer more loads or improve communication.
