Your TMS lane history

Last updated: October 23, 2026

If your team has TMS lane history turned on, Quick Quote shows what your company actually paid carriers on similar loads. By default it looks at the last 28 days of loads in your TMS, shown as a Lane History card and as a weekly chart, with the loads behind it one click away.

The Lane History card

  • Buy Rate: the middle (median) of what you paid on matching loads, scaled to this lane's miles. A one-off cheap or expensive load doesn't drag it around.
  • Price Range: the middle half of those loads, from the 25th to the 75th percentile.
  • Hover the rate to see the window and the match level it used, for example Rate based on a 28-day average from Market to Market.

Select it like any card and it becomes your Buy rate in Rate Breakdown. Some companies have it selected by default.

How Drumkit finds similar loads

Drumkit looks for your TMS loads at four levels at once, from tight to wide:

  1. 3-digit zip to 3-digit zip
  2. Market to market (DAT market areas)
  3. City to city
  4. State to state

The card uses the market match when there are loads there, otherwise the tightest level that has some. Switch levels on the chart to compare. Drumkit also skips loads whose miles are far off this lane's, so a 300-mile run isn't compared with a 900-mile one.

A Broad match badge means the card is based on state-to-state history, because there wasn't enough at a tighter level. Treat it as a rough guide.

The chart and the loads behind it

Under Lane History Trends, the TMS chart shows rates week by week across the window (four weeks by default). Below it, when your TMS provides sell rates, a summary line shows your average sell and average margin on those loads.

Click Show Loads to see each load: Load ID, Cost, Miles and Rate/mi, plus Sell and Margin when your TMS provides them.

The Sell and Margin columns are a fast sanity check: what did you charge this customer's lane last time, and what did you keep?

Which TMSs

Lane history comes from loads Drumkit syncs from your TMS. Whether you get the Lane History card, the chart, or both depends on your TMS and your company's setup. Ask your Drumkit admin what's set up for you.

FAQs

Is it the last 28 days, or the last week, month or year?

The last 28 days, unless your company has asked for a longer window. There's no week, month or year switch. The chart splits the window into weeks. The separate DAT Rate History chart is DAT's data, by month.

It says "No TMS lane history available." Why?

Your company hasn't moved a similar load in the window, even at the state level. Use your market cards for this one.

My lane has extra stops. Does history count them?

Not yet. TMS lane history uses the first and last stop in the form, and says so under the chart.

Can the window be longer?

Yes. It's a company setting. Ask your Drumkit admin to request it from support@drumkit.ai. A longer window finds more loads but reacts more slowly to the market.

Why doesn't the number match what I see in my TMS report?

Drumkit scales each load to this lane's miles and uses the median, not the average. A report that averages raw totals will come out different.
