DAT

Last updated: October 23, 2026

If your company uses DAT, Quick Quote shows DAT's RateView card: the broker spot rate for your lane, priced with your own DAT seat. Depending on what your team has turned on, you can also see market conditions, change how the lane is looked up, and pull the lane's rate history.

The RateView card from DAT

RateView needs a DAT seat (DAT Connexion) linked to your Drumkit login. If the card shows the DAT logo and an Enable button instead of a rate, see Connect your DAT seat.

The RateView card

  • Buy Rate: DAT's broker spot rate for the lane, with the per-mile rate.
  • Price Range: the low-to-high range DAT reports. Hover it for the range per mile.
  • Transport Type: the equipment DAT priced. DAT doesn't price every equipment type; when it can't, the card says so and shows rates for the closest equivalent it does price.

Hover the rate for the details: the timeframe DAT used, the areas it pulled from (for example Chicago Market Area to Dallas Market Area), and how many reports from how many companies the rate is based on.

What the RateView rate is based on

Market Analytics

If your team has DAT market data turned on, open Market Analytics on the card. It compares the Inbound and Outbound sides of the lane:

  • L/T Ratio (Load to Truck Ratio from DAT): loads posted per truck posted. Higher means trucks are scarcer and rates tend to rise.
  • MCI Yesterday and MCI Week Avg: DAT's Market Conditions Index for the area.
  • MCI Tomorrow: DAT's forecast, if your team has it.

Change the lookup

If your team has it, click Change lookup on the card to re-price with different settings:

  1. Pick a Timeframe (days). A longer window uses more reports; a shorter one is closer to today's market.
  2. Pick an Area Type for the lookup: from a 3-digit ZIP up to a market area, state, region or the whole country.
  3. Click Update RateView.

Drumkit picks the best-fit settings to start with, and marks them in the list.

Rate history

Under Lane History Trends, click Get DAT Rate History to chart this lane's monthly max, average and min rates. Some teams have it load automatically.

What to do

RateView does not have data for this lane

DAT has too few reports on this lane right now.

Try Change lookup with a longer timeframe or a wider area, or use another rate card.

… needs to have a Connexion seat in order to use RateView data

The DAT login linked to you doesn't have an active Connexion seat.

See Connect your DAT seat.

No DAT seat is linked to your Drumkit login yet.

Click Enable and enter the email on your DAT seat.

FAQs

Why is DAT's number different from what I see on DAT's own site?

Check the timeframe and areas in the card's tooltip. RateView rates change with the window and the lookup area, so a different setting gives a different number.

Why is the DAT mileage different from my TMS?

Hover the rate to see where the distance came from. Different mileage engines give slightly different miles.

Can I quote a multi-stop lane with DAT?

If your team has multi-stop quoting (beta), the DAT card offers Longest Leg or Leg-to-Leg pricing.

My teammate sees Market Analytics and I don't.

DAT market data, the forecast and Change lookup are turned on per company and sometimes per group. Ask your Drumkit admin.
