Audience: IT Administrators
Tool: Drumkit Outlook Add-In
Overview
By default, users install the Drumkit Outlook add-in themselves by searching for it in the Microsoft app store from within Outlook. However, IT admins can use Microsoft 365's Centralized Deployment feature to automatically push the Drumkit add-in to all users — or a specific group — so they don't need to install it manually.
Getting Started
Prerequisites
Before deploying via Centralized Deployment:
Organizational consent for all three Drumkit Entra apps must already be granted (see The Three Drumkit Entra Apps Explained)
You must have Microsoft 365 admin center access
Users must be on Outlook on the web, Outlook for Windows, or Outlook for Mac (Centralized Deployment supports all three)
Deployment Steps
Follow Microsoft's full guide for deploying Office add-ins via the Admin Center: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/admin/manage/manage-deployment-of-add-ins
Key steps:
Sign in to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center
Navigate to Settings > Integrated Apps > Add-ins
Click Deploy Add-in and search for Drumkit in the Microsoft Marketplace
Select your deployment method (see below) and choose which users or groups to deploy to
Complete the deployment
Choosing a Deployment Method
Deployment MethodWhat Happens | |
Fixed | Drumkit is automatically pushed to all users in the selected group. It will appear in their Outlook Apps menu without any action required from the user. |
Available | Drumkit appears in the add-in store for users to optionally install themselves. This is the standard individual install flow. |
Drumkit recommends the Fixed deployment method if you want to ensure all relevant users have Drumkit available from day one without any manual steps.
Important Notes on Pinning
Centralized Deployment via the Fixed method makes Drumkit available in the Apps menu for every user automatically — but pinning the add-in to the Outlook ribbon is a per-user setting and cannot be forced by an admin.
If users don't see the Drumkit button in their ribbon after deployment, they can pin it themselves by:
Clicking Apps or More apps in Outlook
Right-clicking the Drumkit icon
Selecting Pin
