How the Active view works
Last updated: October 23, 2026
The Active view is where you look at and update loads that already exist in your TMS. Open an email that mentions one of your loads and Drumkit opens that load for you, so you can update it in your TMS without leaving your inbox. With the Chrome extension, you can also open it from the load's page in a supported TMS.
Open a load
There are three ways in.
From the email you're reading
When an email mentions a load number or reference that matches a load in your TMS, Drumkit opens that load in the Active view, one tab per load. On the New view, Kit shows + 1 existing load mentioned (or the number it found). Hover over it to see the IDs under Loads in this thread, and click it to switch to Active.
Closed the load tabs? Kit says Hey! I found N loads associated with this email. Hover over it and click a load to reopen it, or click here to open them all.
If Kit says No associated loads were found, the email didn't contain a reference Drumkit could match to a load. Use the search bar instead.
From the search bar
- Type the load ID into Search by ID... at the top of the sidebar and press Enter.
- Don't have the ID? Open Advanced Search and search by Customer Name and the pickup and dropoff city and state. You'll see up to 10 matches.
From your TMS's load page (Chrome)
With the Chrome extension, open a load in a supported TMS and click Open Drumkit. The sidebar opens that same load. See Use Drumkit on your TMS load page.
Each load you open gets its own tab across the top of the sidebar, so you can keep several loads open and switch between them.
What's in the Active view
Which tabs you see depends on your team's setup and your TMS.
Tab | What you do there |
|---|---|
Load Info | See Load Status, the stops and the load details. Edit fields such as carrier, driver, appointments or references, then click Save to update the load in your TMS. |
Appointments | Book pickup and delivery appointments. See Book dock appointments. |
Track & Trace | Log check calls and exceptions, and schedule check-in emails to the carrier. See Log check calls and exceptions. |
Outbox | See, edit or cancel the carrier emails you've scheduled. See Manage scheduled carrier emails in the Outbox. |
On Load Info, click Show load summary preview to get a short summary of the load you can copy into an email.
Kit in the Active view
Kit also reads emails about loads you already have. If a carrier sends a new driver, a dock changes an appointment, or a check call comes in, Kit offers it as a suggestion, for example Hey! I found 1 carrier update for this load. Click it and Kit fills in the right fields for you to review. See Apply Kit's suggested updates.
Nothing changes in your TMS until you click Save (or Submit check call, Confirm appointment and so on). Opening a load or a suggestion only fills in the form.
FAQs
I searched for my load and it didn't come up.
Search by the load ID your TMS uses. A PO or customer reference may not match. If you only know the lane, use Advanced Search with the customer and the pickup and dropoff cities.
Some fields on Load Info are read-only.
Drumkit only lets you edit what your TMS lets it update. Some TMSs don't accept updates from Drumkit at all, and the sidebar tells you when that's the case.
The Active view says "Your Drumkit features are not yet configured."
Your account is set up, but no load features are turned on for you yet. Ask your Drumkit admin or email support@drumkit.ai.
Can I build a new load from the Active view?
No. New loads are built from the Load Building tab in the New view. See How Builder works.
