Quote LTL

Last updated: October 23, 2026

Switch Quick Quote to LTL, pick the customer, check the freight and accessorials Kit filled in, and click Get LTL Quote. Drumkit rates the shipment in your TMS and shows a card for every carrier that can take it. LTL quoting works with Tai, 3G, Turvo and McLeod Enterprise, if your team has it turned on.

Here's the kind of email we mean

From: Marcus Hill, Brightline Supply
Subject: LTL quote - 4 pallets Atlanta to Charlotte

Hi,

Can you quote this LTL shipment?

Pickup: 1200 Peachtree Industrial Blvd, Atlanta, GA 30341, ready Tue 11/4 8am-3pm
Deliver: 455 Commerce Dr, Charlotte, NC 28206 (residential, needs liftgate)
4 pallets, 48x40x50, 2,100 lbs total, class 70, stackable

Thanks,
Marcus

1. Switch to LTL and pick the customer

Open the email and Drumkit. If Kit read it as LTL, the form is already on LTL; if not, click LTL at the top of Quick Quote. Under Quote Information, pick the Customer. On Tai and the McLeod API integration, also pick the Customer Staff contact. Your TMS needs both before it can rate.

LTL mode with Customer and Customer Staff

2. Check stops and freight

  • Stops: full street addresses rate best. On Tai, pickup needs Ready and Close times, and you can pick a saved location from the customer's Address book.
  • Items: description, freight class, NMFC (optional), length, width, height, handling unit type, pieces and total weight. Fix anything Kit read wrong.
  • Stackable and Side-loading: set them if they apply.

Drumkit totals Linear Feet, Total Cubic Feet and Total Weight as you go. If the shipment passes 700 cubic feet, 19,999 lbs or 12 linear feet, you'll see Volume Rate May Apply: it may need a volume or truckload quote instead.

3. Add accessorials

Pick accessorials such as liftgate, residential or inside delivery from your TMS's list. If your team uses Shiplify with Tai, Drumkit checks each address and adds or suggests location charges for you. See Shiplify (Tai) below.

4. Get rates

Click Get LTL Quote. Each carrier that can rate the shipment gets a card with its price and transit, plus badges such as Guaranteed or Volume and the carrier's Insurance coverage. Click Show N More for the rest. Carriers that couldn't rate show under Rating Errors or Not Serviced.

When your TMS saves the quote, you'll see Quote Saved in Tai (or your TMS) with Open Quote to jump to it. On 3G, Drumkit can also assign the lowest-rate carrier: Quote Saved in 3G and Carrier Assigned.

The prices come through your TMS, using the customer's rating profile set up there (for example in Tai or 3G), so any markup in that profile is already included.

5. Reply

Click the rate (or rates) you want to offer. Draft Response writes the reply; edit it, then click Send Email or pick Draft Email from its menu. See Send or draft your reply.

That's it. Kit moves the request to Quoted.

What's different on each TMS

TMS

What to know

Tai

Needs Customer and Customer Staff. Pickup Ready/Close times are required. Customer address book, Declared Value, and Shiplify if your team has it. The quote is saved in Tai.

McLeod Enterprise

Same form as Tai: Customer and Customer Staff are required.

3G

Needs Customer. Uses your 3G profiles and constraints, with hazmat fields. The quote is saved in 3G and the lowest-rate carrier can be assigned.

Turvo

Needs Customer. Set mode, service type and payment terms. Rate cards show the Pricing type, so you can tell a contract rate from a dynamic one.

Shiplify (Tai)

If your team has Shiplify connected with Tai, Drumkit checks each pickup and dropoff address for location charges like residential or limited access before you quote.

  • You don't have to do anything: when you click Get LTL Quote, the button reads Checking Shiplify… and then Getting LTL quotes….
  • To see results first, click Check Shiplify on a stop. It needs a full street address.
  • Charges Shiplify is most sure about, and that exist in your Tai accessorial list, are added for you. Others show under Shiplify recommendations with an Add button.
  • Above your rates, a note says whether the request went with Shiplify recommendations, after Shiplify verification, or without a Shiplify lookup.
Shiplify recommendations on a Tai LTL quote

Shiplify never blocks a quote. If it can't check an address (for example Could not check Shiplify. Requesting rates without it.), your rates still come back; add any location charges yourself. If you edit an address while Shiplify is checking, click Get LTL Quote again.

FAQs

Why does LTL show so many more rates than TL?

LTL rates come from the carriers set up in your TMS, so you see one card per carrier. TL rates come from market sources like DAT.

A freight class I need isn't in the list.

The list has 50 through 400, including 77.5 and 92.5. If a class you use is missing, email support@drumkit.ai.

Why are Drumkit's carrier rates different from quoting directly in my TMS?

Check that the customer, accessorials, class and dimensions match. Rates depend on all of them. If they match and a carrier is still missing, send us the email and the quote number.

It says the pickup address could not be validated.

Your TMS couldn't verify the city, state and ZIP. Fix the address and click Get LTL Quote again.

Does LTL support multi-stop?

Not today. LTL quotes are one pickup to one dropoff.

The email has several LTL shipments. Can I quote them together?

On Tai, use Batch LTL Quote. See Quote several LTL shipments at once.

Can the Quick Quote Agent quote LTL?

No. The agent drafts replies for truckload requests only.
