Builder for McLeod

Last updated: October 23, 2026

Build a McLeod order (LoadMaster or PowerBroker) through the McLeod API integration from a tender email: open the email, review the form, click Build Load. Nothing is created in McLeod until you click Build Load.

Before you start

Your McLeod admin and your Drumkit admin set these up once. If Builder isn't showing for you, it's usually one of these.

  • Load Building is turned on for you in Drumkit. Ask your Drumkit admin if you don't see the Load Building tab.
  • Your team is on the McLeod API integration, and the Drumkit user in McLeod has permission to see and create orders, movements and stops. A missing permission is a common reason builds fail.
  • Your dropdown lists (order types, transport types, commodities, revenue codes, reference qualifiers) have been shared with Drumkit. The form shows your company's own lists, so values match McLeod exactly.

1. Open the email and go to Load Building

Open the email and the Drumkit sidebar. In the New view, click the Load Building tab. If Kit found a load in the email, click its suggestion and the form fills in from the email and its attachments. Fields Kit filled in carry a small sparkle icon.

The Load Building tab with the form filled in from the email

Click Expand all at the top of the form to open every section at once, or tick Auto-expand to always start that way.

2. Check each section

Work top to bottom. Start with the customer, because the rest of the load hangs off it. The McLeod form has these sections:

Customer

  • Name: search your McLeod customers
  • Ref #/ BOL: the bill of lading or main reference
  • PO #: the customer's PO

Specs

The dropdowns here are your company's own McLeod lists.

  • Mode, Order Type, Transport Type: how the order is set up in McLeod
  • Commodity: from your commodity list
  • Pieces, Weight, Pallet Count, Pallets Required: load totals
  • Distance: miles
  • Planning Comment: a comment for planning
The Specs section. Transport Type is marked in red until you pick one

The example email doesn't say what equipment to send, so Kit leaves Transport Type empty and the form marks it in red. Pick it before you build.

Rates

  • Rate Type and Rating Units: for example flat or per mile. A weight-based rate needs the weight filled in
  • Line Haul Rate / Line Haul Charge: the customer charge
  • Revenue Code, Collection Method, Salesperson 1: from your McLeod lists
The Rates section with Collection Method, Revenue Code, a flat Rate Type and the line haul filled in

Route

Pickup and Consignee, plus any stops you add.

  • Location: search by name, address or city
  • Contact Information: Contact Person and Phone
  • Reference Numbers: PO # and other references for the stop
  • Appointment Required?, Appointment Start Time, Appointment End Time: when the stop has an appointment
  • Add Stop (beta): add stops in between by hand (they show as Stop 2, Stop 3 and so on). Multi-stop is in beta and Kit doesn't fill extra stops yet
The Route section with the pickup location, contact, appointment times (the zone is in the label) and the beta tooltip on Add Stop

When you open a built load later (the Active view), the same form also shows Carrier and Operator. Operator appears only if your team has it turned on.

3. Check your locations

Drumkit matches each stop to a location already in McLeod. When it finds one, it selects it and fills the address from that record, so the load points at your real location.

If the pickup doesn't match a McLeod location, you'll see Submitting will create a new pickup location in McLeod for: followed by the address. If you know it exists, search by address and pick it instead.

4. Click Build Load

Click Build Load at the bottom of the form. If a required field is empty, Drumkit shows Invalid fields: with a list of what's missing and opens those sections for you. Fill them in and click Build Load again.

When the load is created you'll see Load Created 🎉 with Load ID #: and a copy button. Paste the number wherever you track the load, or look it up in McLeod.

Load Created, with the McLeod load number ready to copy

That's it. The load is in McLeod and you can work it there like any other load.

What's different in McLeod

  • Dropdowns show your company's own McLeod lists, so they differ from one McLeod customer to the next.
  • Times: Drumkit shows each stop in that stop's own time zone, and the zone is in the label (for example Appointment Start Time (EDT)). If your McLeod screens show times in a different zone, a stop can look shifted by the difference. It's the same moment. See Times look shifted in my TMS.
  • Add Stop (beta) lets you add stops in between by hand.
  • Carrier and Operator are set after the order is built, from the Active view.

FAQs

Why do the times look shifted from McLeod?

Drumkit shows each stop in its own time zone (the zone is in the field label). If your McLeod screens are set to another zone, the same time shows differently: a 9:00 AM Eastern pickup appears as 8:00 AM on a screen set to Central. Both are the same pickup time.

A value I need isn't in the dropdown.

The lists come from your McLeod setup. If one is missing or outdated, ask your Drumkit admin to send us the updated list.

Can I add hot comments or billing comments?

Use Planning Comment in Specs for now, and tell us at support@drumkit.ai if you need a specific McLeod comment field.

Kit opened the form but I can't build.

Check every required field (Drumkit lists them when you click Build Load). If the form is complete and McLeod still refuses, the Drumkit user may be missing a McLeod permission. Send us the email.

Does Drumkit create loads in McLeod on its own?

No. Drumkit fills in the form and you click Build Load. It reads your customer and location records to fill the form and writes only the load (plus a new location when you choose to create one).

Kit got a field wrong. Will it keep doing that?

Fix the field before you build, then send us the email so we can tune Builder for that customer. See Report a Builder miss.
