Builder for 3G TMS

Last updated: October 23, 2026

Build a 3G order from a tender email: open the email, review the form, click Build Load. Nothing is created in 3G until you click Build Load.

Before you start

Your 3G admin and your Drumkit admin set these up once. If Builder isn't showing for you, it's usually one of these.

  • Load Building is turned on for your team in Drumkit. Ask your Drumkit admin if you don't see the Load Building tab.
  • Drumkit is connected to your 3G account, and your customers and locations have synced.
  • Each location you ship to has a time zone set in 3G. 3G won't accept an order whose pickup or delivery location is missing one.
  • Your customers' required reference numbers (for example an SO number) are set up on the customer in 3G. Drumkit reads them and asks for them in the form.

Here's the kind of email we mean

1. Open the email and go to Load Building

Open the email and the Drumkit sidebar. In the New view, click the Load Building tab. If Kit found a load in the email, click its suggestion and the form fills in from the email and its attachments. Fields Kit filled in carry a small sparkle icon.

The Load Building tab with the 3G form filled in from the email. Equipment and Service Options are still empty and marked in red.

Click Expand all at the top of the form to open every section at once, or tick Auto-expand to always start that way.

2. Check each section

Work top to bottom. Start with the customer, because the rest of the load hangs off it. The 3G form has these sections:

Customer

Search for the customer by name or address. Once a customer is picked, its address fills in from 3G.

  • Name: search your 3G customers by name or address
  • Ref #/ BOL: the bill of lading or main reference
  • PO #: the customer's PO
  • Required references: if this customer requires extra reference numbers in 3G (for example an SO number), each one appears here by name. Fill them all in, or 3G rejects the order
  • + Add Another Reference Number: add any other reference: pick its Qualifier, then type the value

Specs

  • Mode: the 3G mode, for example TL or LTL (the list comes from your 3G setup). Choosing LTL adds the Accessorials section
  • Service Options: the 3G service level
  • Equipment: the equipment type from your 3G list
  • Pallets and Pieces: the handling-unit count and the piece count for the whole load
  • Temperature: required when the equipment is refrigerated
The Specs section. Service Options and Equipment are marked Required until you pick them

The example email doesn't name the equipment or service level, so Kit leaves Service Options and Equipment empty and marks them in red. Pick both before you build.

Items

Click Add Item for each line on the order. At least one item is required.

  • Description: pick a commodity from the customer's list or type one
  • Freight Class and NMFC: needed for LTL
  • Net Wt: the item's weight
  • HU Count, HU Type and Piece Count: handling units (for example pallets) and pieces on them
  • Length, Width, Height: dimensions. Drumkit works out Cubic Feet and Density (PCF)
The Items section before any item is added, with the Add Item button

Accessorials

Shows only when Mode is LTL. Pick the accessorials the shipment needs from Select accessorials...

Pickup and Consignee

One section each.

  • Name: search your 3G locations
  • Pickup Appt Required / Del Appt Required: whether the stop needs an appointment
  • Pickup Date / Delivery Date: from the email
  • Working hours: the location's hours from 3G, when it has them
  • Appointment Start Time, Appointment End Time, Appointment Number: fill these when the stop has an appointment
The Pickup section with the matched 3G location, pickup date, working hours and appointment number

When you open a built load later (the Active view), the same form also shows Bill To, Carrier, Operator and Documents. Operator appears only if your team has it turned on. Documents lets you attach a POD, BOL, Rate Confirmation, Delivery Receipt, Lumper Receipt or other file (PDF, JPG, PNG or TIFF, up to 2.5 MB) to the 3G load.

3. Check your locations

Drumkit matches each stop to a location already in 3G. When it finds one, it selects it and fills the address from that record, so the load points at your real location.

If the address in the email isn't in 3G yet, you'll see AI detected a new location, click here to add. Click it (or the + next to the Name field), check the details, and click Save Location. The location is saved to 3G. If you know the location already exists, search for it by address instead.

A new location needs a time zone in 3G before 3G will take an order for it. If the build fails with a time-zone message, set the time zone on that location in 3G and build again.

4. Click Build Load

Click Build Load at the bottom of the form. If a required field is empty, Drumkit shows Invalid fields: with a list of what's missing and opens those sections for you. Fill them in and click Build Load again.

When the load is created you'll see Load Created 🎉 with Load ID #: and a copy button. Paste the number wherever you track the load, or look it up in 3G.

Load Created, with the 3G load number ready to copy

Clicked Build Load again by mistake? Drumkit asks Submit Another Load? first. Click Yes, Create Another only if you really want a second load.

That's it. The load is in 3G and you can work it there like any other load.

What's different in 3G

  • Choosing LTL as the Mode adds an Accessorials section, and items need a freight class.
  • Reference numbers are checked against what each customer requires in 3G before the order is sent.
  • Every 3G location needs a time zone. A missing time zone is a common reason a 3G build fails.
  • There's no Rates section when you build. Add rates in 3G after the order is created.
  • After the load is built you can attach documents to it from Drumkit (Documents section).

FAQs

What's the difference between Pallets and Pieces?

Pallets is how many handling units the load has; Pieces is the count of pieces on them. Each item has its own HU Count and Piece Count too. If the email only gives one number, check which one the customer means before you build.

Why did my build fail on a time zone?

3G needs a time zone on every pickup and delivery location. Set it on the location in 3G (your 3G admin can do this) and click Build Load again.

Where do I add the rate?

In 3G, after the order is built. The 3G build form in Drumkit has no rate fields.

Can I attach the BOL or POD to the load from Drumkit?

Yes. Open the built load in the Active view, go to Documents, pick the Document Type and upload the file. Files up to 2.5 MB.

Does Drumkit create loads in 3G on its own?

No. Drumkit fills in the form and you click Build Load. It reads your customer and location records to fill the form and writes only the load (plus a new location when you choose to create one).

Kit got a field wrong. Will it keep doing that?

Fix the field before you build, then send us the email so we can tune Builder for that customer. See Report a Builder miss.
